This week in Year 2, we have had a swashbuckling time making our very own pirate treasure maps! The children followed instructions carefully to create detailed maps, using the compass points they had learned in Geography to plan a tricky path for others to follow. They then wrote some fantastic instructions to help find Pirate Frank’s hidden treasure. Watch out, though – you’ll need to cross a rickety bridge and avoid the snappy crocodiles if you want to reach the treasure!

This week in Year 2, we’ve had an exciting start to our new topic Map Makers! In Maths, we explored positional language and learnt all about turns. During P.E., we tackled a pirates' obstacle course blindfolded – the only way to avoid the shark was by listening carefully to our partner’s instructions! In Geography, we had fun making our own maps and guiding our partners to the treasure using directions like north, south, east and west. What a brilliant first week back!
