Science
In Science, we have been looking and living things and their habitats. This week, we have been using classification keys to group different vertebrates. We needed to come up with some questions with yes or no answers to distinguish from different groups such as mammals and amphibians, then looking at specific animals and noting their differences to come up with our own classification keys.
PE – Multi Skills
During PE, we have been mastering our agility, balance and co-ordination skills. We had so much fun completing a circuit of activities. We worked as a group to encourage each other and cheer each other on. Have a look at some of our fantastic skills!
Great North Museum – Time Odyssey!
Year 3 are time champions! We visited the Great North Museum in Newcastle, where we took part in the Time Odyssey. Our mission was to return our character to their own time period as they had somehow gotten lost in time. We explored all of the different galleries, including the Stone Age and Ancient Egypt galleries. It was so much fun exploring the museum in a fun and interactive way!
Stone Age Artefacts
To introduce our topic of Stone Age to Iron Age, we examined different artefacts from the time period. We answered questions such as ‘what might it have been used for?’ and ‘what material / materials is it made from?’. This activity got us really excited to learn more as we got to examine the artefacts closely and discuss our ideas about each one. We discovered artefacts such as a flint axe, a rabbit pelt, horn needles and even a bow drill fire starter. We compared some of the items to things that we use today and found that there were some similarities and differences.
